Congratulations to our New President-Elect Barack Obama

Congratulations to our new President-Elect Barack Obama! This is an historical moment for the United States of America particularly African Americans and all minorities that reside in this great Nation. We have come a long way in a short period of time. America has proven to be the land of opportunity. This should encourage us as African Americans to reach for the stars. We no longer can use being black as a reason for failure, we now have to take personal responsibility for our shortcomings.

My prayer is that we the Christian Community will be united in supporting our newly elected leader. We are commanded to pray for our leaders. President-Elect Obama, his family and his administration will need all the prayer he/they can get.1

Those of us who did not vote for Senator Obama, lets hope the best for our new President-Elect. The Bible tells us, that God ordains government, so let us accept and embrace the will of God.2

The revival that our Country needs will only come about when we as believers will humble ourselves, pray, seek God's face and turn from our wicked ways.3

God bless you and God bless America!

(1) 1 Tim 2:1-4 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
(2) Rom 13:1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
(3) 2 Chron 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Fitts, great comments my friend. I am glad that after seeing and hearing many McCain supporters boo the mention of Obama's name at his concession speech, you are calling for Christians to be just that, Christians. Bless you doctor.

Thanks Fitts for your post. Although I do not agree with all of President-elect Obama's policies, I will pray for him and his family, as well as for all of our other leaders. Let us, the church, continue to pursue Jesus and His agenda.

Hi Pastor Fitts - Thank you for your very kind comments on my blog. It made my day. :) I would be delighted if your wife would stop by and say hello.

I also have to say Thank You for this very insightful and encouraging post! While I do not believe that Mr Obama would uphold Biblical morals and values, I have committed to praying for him and for Christians to come together united in Christ Jesus as we are called to be.

Rich Blessings to you!

Hi again Pastor Fitts. Thank you for stopping by my Design blog. No I have not read "Shape" but it sounds like one I may need to put on my reading list. :)

The books that God has used to help me learn how He wired me are as follows:
1) 5 Little Questions that Reveal the Life God Designed for You - Dannah Gresh

2) Cure for the Common Life - Max Lucado

3) Now Discover your Strengths - M Buckingham & D Clifton PhD (This is not a Christian book but God used it to show me how He shaped me. It is actually written to help businesses place employees in the positions they are best suited for.)

I don't make T-shirts. I did work with someone a few months ago to create a design for T-shirts I and worked with the silkscreener, but I did not print the shirts myself.

Thank you! :)

Hello Pastor.
I'm glad you wrote "we the Christian Community". As a black man I'm excited, but as a Christian I realize that the real responsibility is in praying for all people and our leaders, independent of our political affiliations.
Thanks for the Wisdom.

I'm with SLC, I was touched when you wrote, we the Christian Community (especially since I was Baptized on 10/19). We can't stop now. Please people, don't sit back and expect our fellow man to do it alone. We are all responsible for the success of America. On another note, WTOP announced yesterday that although President Bush will have to include President Elect Obama in on the classified morning briefs, he wants to remind the public that he is still in charge. I beg to differ, Mr. President. God is in charge.

PS thanks for your visit and the compliment. Many blessings to you and your family.

Hi Pastor Fitts..
Aloha. We will always know President Obama as a fellow islander who we all knew before he became president of the United States. But like you said whether we voted for him or not we still need to pray for him and that the Lord will have his way no matter what.
Thanks for your visit it was a blessing as always.

Aloha Ke Akua.. means God be with you in Hawaiian.

thanks for stopping by and thanks for your words calling all to pray for our leaders and reminding everyone we are followers of Christ and as such we should not forget God loves us all, came for us all and ordained our lives before He laid the foundations. We needed fervent prayer before the election and we need it after. Be Blessed

I truly gave this election to the Lord and told myself not to worry about it. There is a plan and I am sure it will be a great one because the Lords hand is in on it. I will pray for Obama and his family during his term. I pray that God keeps there family safe.I feel honored to be a part of this history in the making!
