Overwhelmed With Joy

Brothers and sisters, my heart is filled with joy because of a weekend filled with praise, fellowship and proclamation of God's powerful word. It started Saturday night when I attended a banquet in honor of the school I attend The Los Angeles Bible Training School . I am humbled to be associated with an institution that has so effectively served the body of Christ for so long (since 1962). We call LABTS the best kept secret in Los Angeles. It was an honor for me to be a part of such a glorious occasion. Pastor Alex Montoya of The First Fundamental Bible Church in East Los Angeles brought the word. His exposition came from James chapter 1 verses 21-25.

The highlight of my weekend, was this afternoon, at our Annual Men's Day Service. Deacon Billy Bogan, put together a wonderful program. Paul Felix B.A., University of Redlands M.A., Talbot Theological Seminary M.Div., Th.M., The Master's Seminary Th.D., The Master's Seminary (in progress), Assistant Professor, New Testament Language and Literature at The Master's Seminary, President of The Los Angeles Bible Training School and Co Author of "Secret Sex Wars " (yes all of that and some) brought the word, and what a wholesome and healthy word it was.

Our Theme for the occasion was "Men Living on God's Word" with Matthew 4:4 as the foundational text. His exposition came from various passages where he challanged the entire congregation to live by God's Word.

His outline below

Men who live by the word of God are:

I. Convinced about the Nature of the Bible
a. The Bible is the Word of God (2 Tim 3:16-17)

II. Convinced about the Characteristics of the Bible
Hebrews 4:12
a. It's alive
b. It's active (effective)
c. It's sharp
d. It's piercing
e. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart

III. Convinced about the Benefits of the Bible
a. It will bless those who live by it (Psalms 119:1-2)
b. It will keep you clean (Psalms 119:9)
c. It will keep you from sin (Psalms 119:11)
d. It will make you wise (Psalms 119:97-104)

IV. Committed to Practicing the Disciplines of the Bible
Psalms 119:14-15
a. Living by the Word
b. Meditating on the Word

What a privilege and an honor it was to have one of God’s choice servants break bread with us on our Annual Men’s Day Service.

Pastor Fitts,

Sounds like you had a wonderful time in the presence of the Lord and Savior JESUS Christ. I appreciate the theme "Men Living on God's Word" I primarily get to share these following words with my son and daughter male friends. Be a man, step up to the plate and be responsible. I feel this pleases GOD.
